Latin America Regional Council Fall Meeting

On October 8, 2019, at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, the Latin America Regional Council (LARC) held its fall meeting, the second LARC gathering in 2019. With LARC’s unique focus on security concerns for the entire Latin American region versus a specific country or city, the event covered issues pertinent to the LARC membership, which spans large corporations, international development groups, academic institutions, as well as faith-based organizations.

Thank you to the LARC Planning Committee – led by Private Sector Chair Eduardo Jany of Bloomberg Security Operations and Public Sector Chair Peter Kapoukakis, Diplomatic Security Service, Miami Field Office, U.S. Department of State – for orchestrating another excellent agenda and presentation of experts. Topics included Conflict Resolution, New Kidnapping Modalities in Mexico, Security Implications of a Chinese Presence in Latin America, Political Transitions and Associated Risk in Central America, Organized Crime in Brazil and Regional Implications and Terrorist Operations in Latin America.
