Women in Security Spring Events

OSAC’s newest initiative, Women in Security, hosted two popular events in May 2019:

  • Women in Security: Boston, held on May 20 at the Northeastern University’s Raytheon Amphitheater in the Egan Research Center, sponsored by Gold Sponsor Raytheon, and
  • Women in Security: Los Angeles, the first-ever West Coast WiS event, which was held on May 8 at Paramount Pictures.

Established in fall 2017, OSAC’s Women in Security (WiS) program encourages and champions female perspectives and participation in OSAC initiatives with an overarching goal of empowering attendees to ascend to leadership positions in the security industry. “Through presenting programming specific to women and allies, every OSAC member benefits from hearing from the female voices in our increasingly diverse industry,” notes WiS Private-sector Chair Elena Carrington. “We had an incredible launch year, and these two events added tremendously to the momentum of our WiS efforts. We look forward to the future growth of this group.”

The impact of these initial efforts and on the changing diversity within OSAC’s membership was felt at the Middle East and North Africa Regional Council (MENA RC) meeting immediately following the WiS: Boston event. For the two-day MENA RC event, half of the speakers and presenters were female.
