2018 International Travel Safety and Security Forum Recap
Thanks to the speakers and 200 registrants for making the second OSAC International Travel Safety and Security Forum (ITSSF) a great, informative networking event. Our host, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, generously provided the perfect Seattle venue for OSAC’s robust program on strategies and real-life scenarios for today’s international travel challenges. Thank you to Target Corporation for sponsorship of this event.
Held on August 1-2, 2018, the ITSSF included a reception at the end of the first day to ensure that attendees connected with each other – one of the most important take-aways from any OSAC event.
“The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation was honored to host this iteration of OSAC’s International Travel Safety and Security Forum,” said Valerie Schaeublin, an ITSSF presenter and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Senior Regional Security Advisor for Global Security. “Whether we’re engaging with an OSAC Country Council in a location where we operate, benchmarking and sharing best practices amongst our counterparts through one of OSAC’s Common Interest Councils or events, OSAC and its collective community continue to be an important component of our security and risk management process.”
OSAC continued its practice of live benchmarking during the conference with the support of OSAC’s Outreach and Engagement Program Officer Rebecca Gomez, and the feedback shared is helping to shape future ITSSF and other OSAC events, including:
- “This was my first event, and I really felt that I came away with some great nuggets of knowledge.”
- “I have attended many conferences and training events during my career, and this was one of the best. This was really valuable, and I gained so much more new information and insight into a topic I consider myself an expert in. So glad I attended.”
